Do you think this fediverse-analogy is any good for telling people about the fediverse?
(FYI: I’m not a native speaker so please bear with some potential grammatical errors)
I like it. Original, and no mention of instances or other technicalities.
I think it’s a pretty nice analogy! The one minor issue I have is it makes moving between instances sound way more seamless than it actually is, almost like Mastodon migrations, although it’s probably fine for a quick intro.
I take that into consideration - I mean its also a bit of wishful thinking and advertisment. It should be that easy, right?
Ah, fair enough! I’m not holding my breath because the main developers aren’t really on the same page for now according to the respective GitHub issue but I do hope it eventually becomes a thing.
its also a bit of wishful thinking
Then it’s more a fediverse utopia than a fediverse analogy :-P
Honestly, I think we should stay true to what it is, not to what it might become. We don’t know if, and when.
It’s better to not wake expectations than to disappoint them.
only thing that i dont really like is the white text on the last pic
maybe some gray 0.5 alpha behind the text would help the readabilityi feel a little bad for herbert … just a little
He never moved out is all ;)
Overall good analogy, but I a have small nitpick with your picture.
The white text over a background would be more readable with shadowing. That’s it.
Way too long to actually be useful for converting anyone.
Bonus points for using images from Tuca and Bertie. I love that show.
A good analogy uses things that people already know… Bird parties aren’t an actual thing that make simple sense. Maybe it’s just me
