The Department of Health and Human Services has moved to reclassify marijuana as less harmful than cocaine or heroin, a possible first step toward wider legalization, according to reports.
In a letter obtained by Bloomberg News, a Health and Human Services Department official wrote to Drug Enforcement Agency Administrator Anne Milgram that marijuana should be classified as a schedule three substance, which consists of drugs “with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence.”
Cutting edge medical shit going on here folks, they’re only about 50 years late!
Fucking legalize already.
Can we force it on Republicans yet? Like stick them in a weed chamber and don’t let them out until they’ve chilled out a bit?
That’s a new reality show I could watch, hotboxing your congress critters…
Some other Schedule III drugs:
- Products containing less than 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage unit (Tylenol with codeine)
- ketamine
- anabolic steroids
- testosterone
A step in the right direction but even schedule 3 is ridiculous.

What does this mean? Like, a 10 year old can walk into a grocery store and buy a tomato. Is that what you mean? Or did you mean legalize it like alcohol?

In that case, I agree. There’s no sane reason for weed to be illegal in a country where alcohol is not.
Difference is a kid can grow weed.
Even home brew has a complicated setup.
It’s plant, not a demon.
Home brewing alcohol doesn’t have to be complicated. I make hard cider all the time by just opening a jug of apple juice, dumping in yeast, and putting a balloon with a pin hole over the mouth of the jug. Kids could very easily make hooch if they wanted to.
I did that when I was a teenager. Way easier than trying to keep an illegal plant alive that smells strongly of weed.
I don’t grasp the point you’re making; can you elaborate?
There is no point in making a plant illegal.
Does it make sense that alcohol is the only drug that has legalization enshrined in the constitution?
Remember when the Obama administration reviewed and then rejected this change? That was weird
I mean, is it really? Obama was like an '80s Republican than anything. Still was better than the alternative obviously, but people need to stop being so surprised by mainstream Dems acting like Diet Republicans.
