Summary

Reddit’s r/medicine moderators deleted a thread where doctors and users harshly criticized murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Comments, including satirical rejections of insurance claims for gunshot wounds, targeted UHC’s reputation for denying care to boost profits.

Despite the removal, similar discussions continue, with medical professionals condemning UHC’s business practices under Thompson’s leadership, which a Senate report recently criticized for denying post-acute care.

Thompson, shot in what appears to be a targeted attack, led a company notorious for its high claim denial rates, fueling ongoing debates about corporate ethics in healthcare.

Whenever we have big protests, we get tear gassed, shot with rubber bullets, beaten with nightsticks, and arrested. Why do you think this time would be different?

      Vietnam ended because of protest.

The police cannot stop millions of people that match because most of them would agree with you.

The US needs to stop giving the microphone to extreme left and right speakers and go back to being a centrist country…

Protest isn’t easy but it gains traction when everyone is united which at the moment the United States is not… The longer it’s citizens are not united, the longer corporations will fill its coffers and pig out on your hard earned cash

The media keeps you distracted so that none of you see how similar you are with the other side. They have even convinced people to no longer speak to Trump people… Who does that benefit? Motherfucking Corporations. They want you to be divided in every cause possible as it remove the eye on them…

They brutally attacked protesters during the Vietnam war protests, what are you talking about?

They did in fact stop millions of people in more recent protests, once again by using violence against the protesters.

As I said, it is not easy. When the elites believes they have no resistance, they pig out…

There is only so much that cops can prevent in a protest, especially in a day and age of technology where everything is recorded

I agree with the other things you said about solidarity.

But your implied view of protests, where the protesters have to suffer violence at the hands of the oppressors, is just insane to me.

And cops have been recorded commiting war crimes against the American people, and guess what the recordings did? Fucking. Nothing.

You liberals had fucking decades to fix this with your incremental bullshit means tested reforms. You failed. Miserably.

                So two things.

First off, tell them, not me.

Second, we want to make them think about their opinion so that they can see that they’re wrong. If you’re combative like in your comment above, they’re just going to dismiss you as an asshole and not listen to the point you’re trying to make.

Go look in the mirror enlightened centrist.

I’d love to know what media you think I look at. The only social I’m on is lemmy. I don’t own a TV. I pirate news articles from all over, especially business and foreign affairs publications. I read the entire wide spectrum (/s) of pro capitalism right wing to pro capitalism liberal US media. Then I read the smaller independent leftist/anarchist/Marxist stuff. Then I read international news and the general news wires. I read it all.

My view points come from watching this system fail me over and over and over again and seeing the root of it is capitalism and imperialism itself. I cheer on evil CEOs getting shot. They’ve been committing social murder for decades while our government and legal system condone it with no recourse for the public and no more peaceful options left. I can’t believe it took this long.

If you suffered like I have under the American healthcare system you’d quit your enlightened centrist utter bullshit.

I am not saying that protesters should suffer through violence, that is twisting what is said. I said that when you are united as a people, you are capable of great things… And protest is one of tools that you have…

I pointed out how protests are met with the violence of the state, and your response was “it’s not easy”

How else could one interpret that?

Listen what I am saying is that protest will always have repossession, I ain’t saying its right but imagine the women who fought for their rights to be considered equal. They were beaten and jailed but it didn’t stop them and eventually it brought changes…

Nothing comes without sacrifice and honestly I don’t want to live in a world where murder is the solution to our problems as it is a slippery slope in my view.

I don’t have the answer, but I sure as hell know it’s not the way

So we’re back to the protesters having to suffer.

Nah, I think the oppressors should suffer instead.

The slippery slope is a common logical fallacy. It’s not real. Look it up.

You responded to the previous comment (about police violence towards protesters) with nonsense about how protests ended the war in Vietnam and how we need to go “back” to “centrism” and shut up the “extreme left” and extreme right.

It’s not a serious comment. Responding with someone pointing out the brutality and lethality of police response to protests with but Vietnam! just shows your utter lack of knowledge. The police murdered Vietnam protesters. It wasn’t the whitewashed peaceful bullshit people it’s been remembered as.

The fact that you want centrism is utterly fucking laughable. Why do you think we’re in this mess? Are you just a blue MAGA who reflexively blames republicans for everything wrong with this country without any critical thought at all, just parroting MSM talking points?

What extreme left? Who in the extreme left has any power? Name some names, I’ll wait. There is no extreme left in this country save for a handful of unorganized working class anti fascist types.

Where’s that scooby doo meme where Fred pulls the mask off the criminal and the before and after are labeled centrist and fascist? Because that’s where this convo seems to be heading. You just really don’t get it. Centrism, liberalism, conservativism (which is just further right liberalism), fascism, they’re the only ideologies with any power since… JFK? Even earlier than that? There has never been leftist power in America, ever.
