Translation: We don’t know how to create new IP, and nostalgiabait sells.
Translation: QUIT HAVING FUN!!
Ah yes the prime example of copyright encouraging creators to keep creating new and unique content, totally not just remaking the same thing over and over for profit.
Yes! I see naughty dog make new thing. Capcom can try, may be good, may be bad.
But Okami… 😥
Didn’t they just announce an Okami sequel the other day?
I hope that means an Onimusha sequel is also on the way. That was the best Resident Evil clone other than Dino Crisis I ever played. I still have the stupid katana controller somewhere. 🤣
Yes, first line
Capcom has said it’s working on “re-activating dormant IPs” following the announcements of Onimusha and Okami sequels this week.
Both teased at the Game Award the other day.
Ah fuck yeah 😃
Never played Dino crisis but I LOVE me some parasite eve.
Nothing against Dino crisis, just never got to play it, and definitely would take the opportunity.
Super pumped for onimusha reboot, would love to see modernization of Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, And do something interesting with megaman - like Devil may cry meets megaman.
Parasite Eve was Square, mind you, back when they were still called Squaresoft.
That’s totally right!
Iirc the games had very similar mechanics and look to them, forgot the thread was about Capcom 😅
Bring back Mega Man Legends, you fucking cowards.
Yes!!!
Hoping for Breath of Fire, expecting… not Breath of Fire.
1-4 were fantastic. Dragon Quarter, meh. Then I think there was a 6 that was some awful online only web/android game that didn’t break 2 years of support (only released in Japan). This franchise badly needs a good story and direction to work again.
Yeah, Dragon Quarter just felt, i dunno, weird. Like I see what they were trying to do, but they didn’t just flub the landing, they broke one of their legs.
Yes please especially Breath of Fire 3, huge part of my childhood and an absolute gem
“Why bother making new IPs when you’ll gladly slurp up recycled nostalgia for all eternity.”
And yet we have whiny idiots saying copyright encourages artists to create new works. Why the fuck would it when they can just rehash the same shit over and over and over and continue making money on them?
That assumption is based on assuming that profits produce joy and passion in a project. Something which is blatantly false if you look at any of the largest, richest companies in the world.
Breath of Fire or GTFO
Fuck me, I really want to play Dino Crisis once again.
Just play it in Wine or Steam Proton as a non-steam game, it’s a PC game after all.
Emulators exist. You can play the game anytime.
Isn’t that a PC game? I don’t think an Emulator is needed for that, you can run it on Wine, or Steam Proton as a non-steam game.
Yes, it had a PC port. It also was ported from PS1 to Dreamcast.
Not certain if it holds up. I tried to replay RE 2 and the controls drove me nuts.
Funny enough, I was able to replay RE 4 (before the remake) and it was pretty good.
Please power stone and project justice!
Well, good news, project justice and power stone 1 and 2 are on the next capcom fighting game collection (alongside some street fighter games and various enhancements) that should be out next year.
Don’t know if you wanted completely new games, but I think that’s still good news
That’s great and much better than nothing! Thanks for the info!
You activated a core memory.
Used to host Power Stone 2 Dreamcast parties.
Project Justice… I loved every single character. Swimmer guy. Bat guy. Tennis preteen. Akira. Dom girl. Teacher who had enough of your shit. Batsu. Guy who did Guile moves. Sakura. I miss it.
Me too, I wish there was an anime or a Manga of project justice! I know there is one of power stone, but I’m not sure if I should revisit that one or if that better stays a memory
Kamiya going back to Capcom is huge news
