I see a lot of posts lately, mainly in ‘world news’ communities, that when I investigate their source, I cannot come to any other conclostion that purposefully spreading of fake news and propaganda on lemmy.
I love this platform and want to see it thrive, but the fact that these kind of posts can so easily populate my feed is disturbing.
Convince mods to not allow bots or scripts to post them, those post whatever tags they are assigned to from a feed and we end up with clickbait, news that don’t belong or editorial posts that aren’t news; among them sometimes they publish fake or inacurrate news and they end up here.
Forcing news to be user posted would slow them down and make it easier to be moderated, also would be curated by the users (expecting people to read before posting… Ugh), it won’t stop idiots from posting fake news, but it would be easier to spot and report them.
