I am nearly giddy at the thought of finally cancelling my subscription. It’s been like 13-14 years for me I think.

I cancelled last year after watching Stranger Things. It was literally the only show I’d watched on Netflix in over two years. I’d been paying for a service I wasn’t even using, and even though nobody was sharing a password for my account, the price hikes and sudden change of password policy were enough for me to stop paying them. Obviously I haven’t missed it, since I wasn’t watching it, but I may not have cancelled if not for the price going up each year.

About the same here, just canceled last night before I even knew about this. Got my vessel sea worthy within the last week so I decided it was time. Timing was perfect.

I’m not this person, but I’d suggest checking out yams.media. Extremely easy way to get plex/jelly/emby, all of the *arrs, and a VPN with very little setup. Also makes managing/updating them super easy.

Eh, mine is a bit overkill because I built a custom server and I just spin up VMs when I need something. I haven’t gotten anything fancy set up yet like these arr people.

Just spun up a windows VM, de-bloated it, disabled all anti-privacy settings, installed a VPN, installed qbittorrent and bound to VPN, installed librewolf for a browser. Took a baseline backup of the VM to restore to if anything gets messed up.

Spun up another VM as a sandbox to use as a testing and scanning box to make sure no malware gets through.

Created a vhdx treasure chest that I mount on the ship to store my booty, unmount it, mount to the sandbox for testing, once testing yields it’s safe, unmount it and access it from my PC via a network share and claim my treasure. Baslined the sandbox too in case there is any malware. I can just blow everything away and start fresh pretty quickly.

I admit that I need to play with Linux more. I just spun up another VM that I’m going to play around with docker containers.
