If yes, I’ve got a question:

Why doesn’t my zipo work? It has enougth gasoline in it and makes a clear visible spark, but there’s no fire.

The String is very burned down tho.

I don’t know the exact problem, but when I lit it with another lighter it works so it probably can’t catch the spark for some reason.

Any Ideas?

EDIT: No I didn’t use actual gasoline

EDIT2: The solution was to pull the string a bit and trimm it.

First, just in case you’re using actual gasoline in your lighter, stop doing that and get some lighter fluid. Not sure if maybe that’s a term that varies from one region to another, like how what the US calls “gasoline” the UK calls “petrol.”

With that aside, most likely you need to pull the wick (the string) out a bit and trim it. If you don’t have enough wick left you may need to replace it.

The German word for “glove” is “handschuhe”. “Hand” meaning “hand”, and “schuhe” meaning “shoe”.

Shoes for your hands. It’s perfect.

Fuel is probably a more general english translation for benzin.

There’s also the chemical benzene but nobody puts pure benzene in cars or lighters 😅

You probably need to pull the wick through more and trim it. Zippos should come with a long wick within it for that purpose.

Also I hope you mean butane and not gasoline lol

What he needs is lighter fluid, not butane or gasoline.

Butane is a gas that’s stored under pressure as a liquid, there’s no way to add that to a Zippo unless you get one with a butane insert (which he doesn’t have since his has a wick)

Lighter fluid (which is basically/mostly naphtha) is a flamable liquid used in zippo type lighters.

There’s also charcoal lighter fluid which is still another flamable liquid that’s usually either mineral spirits or alcohol based.

Thanks, I kinda spurt that out without thinking. My old torch lighter was butane. Couldn’t remember what it was that came in the tin can.
