The sad truth is that without news like this I would’ve never known who this person was and ultimately I think I would’ve been happier.

Same applies to these certain US politicians. I know the horrible ones and none of the smart ones by name.

I wish shitty people get zero news coverage, from now on to forever, but people like OP spread the word even when the news is negative. Damn.

You’re free to stick your head in the sand if you don’t want to know that bad people exist. Or a less sarcastic suggestion would be to block communities with general news stories and stick to c/upliftingnews or whatever. The sad part is thinking that news shouldn’t be shared because it upsets you.

but people like OP spread the word even when the news is negative

Did you get to the name in the title, look him up in another tab, then comment without finishing reading it? This is GOOD news.

Maybe the person you responded to only wished to not learn about the details of shenanigans from shitty people, because news are already depressing enough, and you just hit them with even more negativity.

Everyone can live a happy life without ever learning who Tate is, it’s not “sticking one’s head in the sand” ; don’t be so judgemental.

You completely missed the point. Kind of ironic that you are the one that gets upset by a point that wasn’t even made.

There is a lot of hate towards him, since he is a a prominent and loud misogynic asshole among other things. It’s therefore satisfying to see his reputation get drawn through dirt by public news coverage. That takes some credibility away and can help people to steer out of his way. (Yes, there are people who fall for people like him for posing as some “alpha-male” bullshit, because they got some problems with themselves and their (love-)lifes, which makes them succeptible for snake oil salesmen like him.)

I didn’t knew about him before that as well and sometimes I wish I didn’t get to know of him. But I see it as advantageous for others to become aware of this highly problematic person.

If it’s someone who is already prominent, it’s therefore okay for me to get that “shitty people news coverage”.

Tate’s actions can affect youth’s future. Some UK schools are teaching the dangers of misogyny after his posts went viral.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The trial of Andrew Tate, the social media influencer accused of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women, can go ahead, a court in Romania has said.

The Bucharest Tribunal said that the prosecutors’ case file against Tate met the legal criteria but did not set a date for the trial to begin.

One of the brothers’ lawyers, Eugen Vidineac, said the court’s decision “lacks legal basis and reasoning” and has filed an appeal.

Under Romanian law, the Bucharest court’s preliminary chamber needed to inspect the case files and evidence to ensure legality.

The victims were then taken to properties outside the city, and through physical violence and mental intimidation were sexually exploited by being forced to produce pornographic content for social media sites that generated large sums of money, prosecutors said.

Tate gained millions of fans by promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle that critics say denigrates women, though he has denied holding misogynistic views.

The original article contains 325 words, the summary contains 159 words. Saved 51%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

TIL Andrew Tate is an entirely different person than I thought. Not personality-wise, I just think I confused his face this a different person’s.
