If you’re gonna crib character design style, background setting style, mechanical design style, and antiwar storylines from anime, Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli is a great place to start.

But honestly that looks really good!

I would be surprised if there wasn’t at least a few Japanese animators in some key positions.
