My home desktop only has 500GB(!!) and before today it had a little more than 100GB left. I’ve been downloading BG3 last several hours and guess how much space is left😭
I’m not into gaming much and the only other large game that’s installed is WoW, and those two games occupy ~300GB.
That made me realize, for those who enjoy gaming, it must require a lot of storage to play AAA games, etc. How much storage do y’all have on your PC/consoles?
*edit: it doesn’t have to be for gaming only!
How do you even have a system that could run BG3 but has just a 500GB storage drive?
What does the performance of a computer have to do with the size of its disk?
If it’s a pre-built there probably isn’t one that existed that’s good enough to run BG3 that only would have come with just a 500GB and if it’s a self built one I feel like almost no one would have built something recent enough to run bg3 and still would have just installed a single 500GB drive. 500GB was on the low end of custom builds a decade ago.
You know that you don’t have to replace every single component in your PC every time you upgrade something, right?
And no, 500 GB (SSD) was the low end fairly recently. Heck, it’s still fair enough nowadays, I have a half-empty 1 TB drive and could easily bring that down to 350-400 GB.
Yes, but I know that if you had to upgrade your vid card in the past 5 years you probably had to also upgrade at least your psu and if you went beyond that then yes, upgrade pretty much everything.
It’s a budget prebuilt gaming desktop I bought in 2020-2021. My computer had suddenly died and graphic cards seemed to have all evaporated. Even prebuilts with 30 series were out of order nearby. But there was one stock left with Ryzen 5 3600 and 2060 in Best Buy ~1hr away and I happily bought it. It only came with 500GB SSD, but I have 2x1TB external HDD so it was enough space for me until it wasn’t😭
But are PC fans supposed to go this crazy? Only created a character + play for few min before going to sleep, but during that time I thought my PC was having a seizure. lol
Lol. If it was a cheap pre-built it could probably stand to have the thermal paste on the gpu and processor redone. Thermal grizzly paste is really good stuff, but it’s also like $25. There’s plenty that are almost as good for half the money. Then also blow out all the fins with canned air. If your rig came with a short 2060 instead of a long one you’re pretty much destined to hear that fan no matter what, though. Can’t be louder than my kids PS4 right now.
