I’m sure the supreme court will approach this without bias
That actually makes a lot of sense, especially combined with the other answers of how some sanctions are trickier implement. Thank you!
It seems like there’s always another sanction package, why didn’t they slap them all on there in the beginning of this whole thing? What’s the benefit of holding some back and letting their economy limp along for a bit?
We built some gas turbines for them at Siemens and trained a few of their people for a new factory we had to build in Riyadh as part of the turbine deal. The individual people we were training were nice enough but it felt like morals just went out the window when the Saudi money showed up.
Same! Haven’t stayed up late reading like that in ages, if ever.
Funny how “fatally shot” takes the sting out of “gunned down” or “killed”.
Yeah! I did a doubletake when I read that opener. It was dramatic but also, so what if the moon blew up? Then the implications are laid out and the whole story starts moving pretty quick. Now I have to do a reread!
We live across a back alley from a hookah bar that was called “A Buck R 2 Lounge”. There’s a shed in the back where all sorts of ATVs and dirt bikes meet up to terrorize the neighborhood/city, it sounds like we live in the middle of a motocross course. They recently painted the building black with purple trim (as hideous as it sounds) and put a new sign up proclaiming the establishment is now called “Rico’s Rush”. I wish someone would just burn the place down already, starting with the shed…
Easily the best book I’ve read in the last 5 years
I liked Reamde a lot more than Fall. Shit really goes down when all the plot lines converge
Seveneves is fantastic, one of my favorites. My favorite Stevenson books are probably Cryptonomicon>Anathem>Seveneves>Reamde
Reality Dysfunction, Hyperion, Red Rising, Dune, The Expanse, Foundation, The Mote in God’s Eye
We’ve had great luck with Bumble BFF. Moved to a new city and was surprised all of our friends fit in our house on my birthday 6 months after moving
I was so upset about Santa Clarita Diet. That one and leaving Travellers on the biggest cliffhanger I could ever imagine with time travel and shit and then… just gone.
I don’t think you could fit them over glasses. Luckily I’m nearsighted so it doesn’t really matter for my use case
Yeah, even works if you want to watch TV
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky could be up your alley. One of the best books I’ve read in recent memory
