You underestimate the toxicity of PFAS chemicals and their manufacture. I work in a toxicology lab, I know a lot of people researching PFAS right now.
To make PTFE, they used to use a chemical called PFOA, which causes multiple types of cancer and other pathologies. Everyone has been exposed to it, especially since they have been found to just dump it in whatever river is convenient. They had to stop using it after getting sued, but now they just use a different chemical that had been show to have the same effects. And again, they’re just dumping it into rivers knowing the fines for polluting won’t be as bad as actually containing the chemical properly.
That is one PFAS chemical. There are so many others. Do not let corporations poison you for profit and then lick their boots for the privilege.
Yeah, me I do, which is why I want to get rid of these forever chemicals because that’s how we’re going to end up with 40 year lifespans again.
We aren’t getting rid of our nutritious diets and vaccines which are the two biggest factors in history that have extended average lifespans. Not Teflon pans and firefighting materials.
Smart phones aren’t killing us and everything else on the planet.
Tiny inconveniences in our lives are far less important than the billions of tons of pollution we create every year…
He looks like Bilbo Baggins in the scene where he’s overcome with desire for the ring and tries to take it from Frodo.
… Did you just ignore their entire paragraph where they included reasons these guys have been rejected?
Okay, we’re going to continue not having sex with sexist entitled incels then. You’re not entitled to our bodies to “fix” this issue.
If you read the message from the screen shot it says in the form of an “Amazon gift card”.
I use the ethanol and kimwipes to clean mine all the time lol they’re probably a little scratchy but better than my shirt. They’re just too convenient when they’re everywhere.
I took medical anthropology recently and this is the best answer. Helping others, even if they seem too far away to affect you in your individualist isolationist country, will actually affect your health.
Are you a rich CEO or were your parents? Probably not, your parents probably didn’t have the privilege to not worry about all the things I listed. Which is why they got two hours a day with you because they were taking care of all the little things in life that just have to get done. So yeah, I agree, being a lower class working couple getting 2 hours a day is pretty good.
But imagine if your parents were working that much purely by choice not necessity. Not to make sure you had enough money to have the necessities of life, but to just have a bigger bank dick than the other guys. To have more power and status through money. Someone choosing to work insane hours to get $800,000 per year over $700,000 or whatever could afford to work much much less in exchange to spend way more time with their kids because they have that privilege.
My point is that CEO is squandering the privilege to spend more time with their family, a privilege that your parents didn’t have.
And there’s people out there who work just as much but will never make the same amount of money. When you have the privilege to never worry about cleaning, laundry, taking care of your kids, grocery shopping, cooking, and all the numerous bullshit things that just add up to consume your time that you can wave away when you were born rich allow you to do that. They don’t consume your day and energy.
Not that everyone if suddenly given that kind of time would do what he does, but I don’t think they should. I think he’s the type of person who looking back on his deathbed will regret only spending 2 hours a day with his family. That’s really sad.
That would put me at getting my parents house when I’m like 65 because that’s how old my Dad is and his Dad only recently passed away (grandma died a couple years ago). Nice plan there.
You say it’s widely known with no evidence. Widely known to some does not mean it is known to everyone.
The guardian is reporting what they the family were told by the nurse. If you read the original Time article they say that precisely, the nurse told them that’s where the nearest place was. Whether the nurse was correct or not is not what they claimed.
“was looking to get an abortion for her daughter but was told the closest abortion provider was in Chicago – a drive of more than nine hours from their home in Clarksdale, Mississippi.”
They could have been lied to, these people are disgusting. When taken to be seen for her strange behavior before they knew she was pregnant, in response to getting back the positive pregnancy test the nurse asked the girl “What have you been doing?”. There are plenty of people in healthcare that don’t care about these victims either or see them as victims at all.
Those clinics you see might not give abortions anymore too.
Downvoted for telling the truth. I know people raising kids who don’t plant their kids in front of a tablet or TV to watch Disney+ or YT ever. It’s possible if you spend some goddamn time with your child and have a creative mind.
For the children and the families of the children, it is free
I can’t believe you have the upvoted comment.

I know you know this, but you are not crazy. I’m astonished you are being down voted so hard. The pedo apology is so strong it’s making me not want to use Lemmy. This thread is worse than reddit.
Terrifying.
