Still seems to be down. In Connect for Lemmy I get an error message that it is down for maintenance
I remember when this was a requested feature… Apparently it’s how it works in some reddit app
Take one bite now, come back for more.
In the United States.
With the fediverse, couldn’t they just create their own private instance and let all the other instances just feed them data?
As long as they don’t do anything to inspire other instances to defederate with them (which by not posting anything and not drawing attention they probably won’t) they can just sit there pulling data.
Yes, notice I said “Scrape” and not “steal” :)
“Massive Trouble”
Step 1 - Scrape everyone’s data to make your LLM and make a high profile deal worth $10B Step 2 - Get sued by everyone whose data you scraped Step 3 - Settle and everyone in the class will be eligible for $5 credit using ChatGPT-4 Step 4 - Bask in the influx of new data Step 5 - Profit
This is actually my preference too. But I think apps have to conform to some play store guidelines that say they have to let the back button exit the app. So the prompt is a compromise.
Are you searching on the website or in Jerboa?
The search is a bit funny. If you’re on the website and search and if the community hasn’t been indexed by your instance, you won’t get it in the results. But, if you search with the url https://feddit.uk/c/britishproblems even though it doesn’t give results it will go and index the community. A few minutes later it will show up.
I don’t know if that works in Jerboa (android app)
I have a lot of issues with Lemmy and more specifically how the fediverse will work with multiple copies of communities and the knee-jerk defederation. But, in terms of stability, content and quality, I feel like it has been getting better. I’m willing to give it some more time.
