As an autistic person that’s a double fuck you from me
Red dead redemption 2 for sure. It’s hard to pick because there are a lot of profound experiences in that game. The part where Arthur is riding back after Guarma when d’angelo starts playing definitely stands out. It just made me think about how some people just get trapped in these shitty situations that are just tragic. It’s easy to say what you would / wouldn’t do in that situation but the gang were Arthur’s family and it’s not that easy to just walk away from the only community you have and the only life you’ve ever known.
Your fascist cookers funded our fascist cookers during this referendum campaign lol.
How much time have you got? I guess the biggest factor is that referendums are hard to pass in Australia, especially when the campaign becomes partisan. And this one was VERY partisan. But also Australia has a particular type of racist ignorance when it comes to our First Nations Peoples and our colonial history in general. We’re now currently the only settler colonial nation that has not recognised its First Nations Peoples in their constitution. Settler colonialism is not a competition, but if it was Australia kind of wins the gold. I say that as a white Australian.
This seems like a really unevenly weighted war. Israel has nukes and is supported by most of the west. Vengeance and violence are also never a good mix so this will likely get ugly fast. It’ll be interesting to see where the line is, if it exists at all, on how much violence the West will publicly support.
Federal government (Australia) recently extended our pharmaceutical benefits scheme so that we can get double the amount of medicine for the same price. State government (Queensland) did a huge cost of living rebate for energy bills which has been super helpful.
I dunno but the first thing that came to mind was terfs.
Covid made me realise just how much we live in different versions of reality and how harmful that is during a crisis that requires everyone to be on the same page. At the beginning of the lockdowns I joked about how some people would rather die than comply with basic public health practices…and then it actually fucking happened in real life. Not only that but they took down other people with them. Not such a funny joke anymore.
I’m not even from the US and honestly it was a sobering moment for me as well. I realised how people like Hitler get into power. Before 2016 I knew it was possible like cognitively but Trump being elected made it feel real in a way it never had before.
We need to develop better ethical frameworks and regulation. Doesn’t matter what the tech is, it’s about how it’s used and for what aims.
As an autistic person this technology could actually allow me to access the community without being overwhelmed. This is revolutionary and would change my life.
Nah I see WA as Texas and QLD as Florida.
If it was simply a difference of political opinion and they supported some run of the mill politician who’s shit but not like fascist level shit then it wouldn’t be relationship ending. Politicians are mostly fucked and not worth losing relationships over.
If it was an overt piece of shit fascist then that would be a different story. Usually people who support fascists become quite radicalised. Shit is culty af. And if this friend did not have a problem with overt prejudice and genocidal attitudes then that would be relationship ending for me.
You should look up our history of colonisation. The nazis took inspiration from it.
I initially read this as him saying world war 3 and then realised he actually said world war 2 and I can’t stop sad laughing at just how fucking stupid this.
I agree with those people, don’t do it. Not unless you have a very specific reason for doing so like wanting to be an academic (you’d have about as much success with this as trying to be a professional athlete) or a phd level industry position.
I have a bachelors in psychology so was able to pick based on my understanding of approaches. I knew I didn’t want CBT, so went with an ACT psych instead. Mine is also a developmental psychologist so I knew they’d be more likely to understand neurodevelopmental disabilities than your average psychologist.
