I feel bad for the students who were used as shields and will now be suspended. Columbia has closed its campus to outsiders (it’s always been open to anyone), and like magic the campus will quiet down. Imagine that.
It’s great software. I’ll have to try editing the permissions because on Tumbleweed it only works when run as root. It complains that the service isn’t running as a user.
Also, I noticed that series 7000 gpus have serious problems under the most recent stable kerne when using an egpu setup. LACT shows that they cannot draw enough wattage, so they never get up to speed. Older gpus work fine.

If you have to use deb-based, use mint. That way you get the support of Ubuntu without their reliance on snap. Is Firefox a forced snap install in LTS? If so, I would delete it immediately.
For rpm-based Fedora is good. Lots of how-to’s and Fedora magazine is super helpful to start projects. Or go green and use opensuse and/or an immutable OS… so everything would be a chore to get going. At least you’d learn a lot along the way!
Pop! OS is also a good choice.
Hopefully in the 19th they will figure out that they need more packages that are common in fedora or Arch, etc.
Arch Linux is great for people that want to do nothing but Arch Linux.
