I don’t think so. I mean, even if an instance with an important community has a problem (e.g. goes offline) we can simply create that community on another instance, but as long as there are no problems I think it’s better to have just one community.
I chose vlemmy.net for the exact same reason, too. Also it was the top instance on https://join-lemmy.org/instances the day I wanted to join another instance (I was on lemmy.ml then).
Aegis is great! I really don’t know why people use Google Authenticator when much better alternatives exist.
Currently DuckDuckGo, but I will switch to SearXNG because of this.
You would probably get used to FlorisBoard after a bit of time if you try it. I was used to SwiftKey but I didn’t like it because it doesn’t have a good history, like suggesting private email addresses to other users, and it’s for Microsoft. But now I’m typing this using FlorisBoard.
Definitely FlorisBoard. I’ve also tried AnySoftKeyboard and some others in the past, and I think FlorisBoard is the best.
Hello;
Here is my explanation why open-sourcing a program is a good idea. I hope it helps you.
Anyone who can will be able to read the code (and that means if someone tries to add malicious code people would notice), and it also makes it easier to contribute to the program, programmer or not. Programmers can fix the program on their own and then ask for their fix to be added. Or, if they don’t know why something isn’t working (or don’t have time, or aren’t programmers at all), they can create an issue: it’s like a post, and anyone can comment on it. If the main programmer/s didn’t find out what was wrong, then someone else might.
I think I saw this around four years ago for the first time… someone sent it to me on telegram, but in another language.
