  • My read on what he and others were concerned about was that DA Origins introduced an aesthetic of low fantasy, dark and medieval themes. Many felt, including him, that the new characters felt like very generic MOBA-style designs that didn’t feel particularly at home in the DA world they hoped to see. Since some channels have gotten to play the game now the outlook seems to be changing with some creators saying the trailers and released material did a poor job of showing the overall art direction. Also, it seems fun, that helps. Keep in mind, a healthy concern over Bioware is very warranted these days.

  • As others mentioned, this isn’t America. Also, fraudulent calls to emergency services is a criminal offense, people who do this are usually charged and fined, or even given jail time. It’s not like it’s accepted or mainstream behavior, people just do stupid things and when combined with stupid cops it has led to tragic outcomes. In this video they seem to show up, which they HAVE to do, place the occupant in precautionary detainment, verify there is no crime underway, and release him. They would probably then take a statement, then the next thing would be to get a warrant for the call records and charge the dipshit that started the incident.

  • I think this is pretty accurate. It would also be understandable if the US wantt a very active partner in the very obvious crimes against humanity. The overall colonial land appropriation that Israel is built on, and the general apartheid system Palestinians are subjected to is one thing. The emergency transfer of munitions which will be used to commit war crimes within days is way more acute. It’s tough to watch.

  • It’s an odd post, but I have to admit I had the same fascination. I remember finding out that she exists when the YT video I was listening to ended and, before I got my phone out of my pocket, it had auto played some girl introducing the story of a LARP theme park I had never heard of. An hour later I was heavily informed about the tale of Evermore despite giving no shits about theme parks.

I listened to a couple more of her essays on topics I have no inherent interest in, then took a closer look at her channel. I thought, I’ll add her to my Patreon list for awhile, I’ve gotten several hours of entertainment. Queue the holy shit when I ran the numbers.

Sometimes people make good stuff, and then they are financially rewarded for that. Good for her.

    Edit: English better.

  • I have Nvidia, the actual experience of driver updating and installation on Nobara was seamless, it just has a setup tool that detects the card and downloads the drivers. The same was true for other peripherals, my razer keyboard and mouse were easy to setup, there was a tool for my XBOX controller.

The recommendation to get AMD is reasonable for new builds, but it’s also one of those little issues. I’m just not willing to give up my 4080 for a less capable piece of hardware. But again, I didn’t have any real issues, even VRR and dual monitors worked fine. Ray tracing was working in Steam games, but I couldn’t figure out how to get it running for my GOG games and whatnot. Like I said, it’s so close to being ready for daily driving, but not my personal use case.

  • I spent a few months last year running Nobara. I’m back on Windows unfortunately. There are a ton of games that ran just fine, but there’s also a lot of little issues. For example, in Grim Dawn I couldn’t type in chat, in Pathfinder WotR I simply couldn’t get mods to work, STALKER Anomaly simply wouldn’t load. Then there was the big issue of my mouse cursor dropping below full screen games. Still there, but not visible. The only fix I could use was to restart the computer.

It’s tantalizingly close to ready, and if you don’t care about modding it probably already is. For me it just didn’t work out, yet.

  • People seem to still be struggling with the Israeli strategy. Like many previous genocides, including the Holocaust, which the term originates from, hunger is a primary weapon. The Ukrainian holodomir, the Irish potato famine, the Armenian genocide, the goal is to save ammunition and simply remove the infrastructure of life from the target group. Israeli attacks have destroyed the water, power, administrative, and health care of the population. The issue now is that while the people are dying, international aid is mitigating the effectiveness of destroying infrastructure. A strike like this is so blatantly targeted because it’s a signal. With 3 weapons they have shut down a channel that could provide critical nutrition to tens of thousands of borderline surviving Palestinian people every day. It’s meant to have a chilling effect on relief efforts. Combined with the slow border checks, the political efforts to defund UN relief agencies, it helps accelerate the goal of removing the population from Gaza. It’s not an accident, earlier strikes on UN relief warehouses and personnel weren’t accidents, and the killing of around 100 journalists and many of their families weren’t accidents. They’re messages, get out of the way.

  • This was totally out for me. It ran ok on my setup, but it was a shit game. It randomly generated traffic when you turned your back. AI for NPCs was often barely functional. Numerous build options seemed either broken or just untested. Itemization was boring and poorly balanced. Vehicles handled like crap in a game with a car collecting activity. The crime system was so undeveloped it felt like it was a joke from the Devs with police spawning in a bowl of rice to bust a cap.

Anyways, I played about 20 hours and realized the game wasn’t finished or feature complete, and absolutely wasn’t what had been advertised. I refunded, but I’m watching feedback now and may buy again if the game is closer to it’s original sales pitch.

  • I am using Nobara, which is a Fedora based gaming distro. I definitely do not have to reboot for updates to software outside of system updates to the OS specifically. Updating Discord, Firefox, Steam, Heroic Launcher, Signal, etc does not require a reboot. Something sounds amiss. I am running straight Fedora on my Surface Pro and same story there, basically restart for system upgrades only.
