  • Completely no surprise here but I love sci-fi horror. Taking cool futuristic concepts and using them to create an atmosphere for horror. I love being fascinated with technology while simultaneously terrified of it. The best example I can think of this, and coincidentally my favorite horror movie?

    Event Horizon.

In the not terribly distant future, Humanity creates an FTL drive which is installed aboard a spaceship called the Event Horizon. On her maiden voyage she vanishes. Some 7 years later, a distress call is picked up in a decaying orbit around Neptune from that very ship. A Search and Rescue vessel called the Lewis and Clarke is dispatched, along with the ships creator, to check out the signal and find what went wrong. What they do find is far more than they bargained for as the ship itself seems to be itching to return wherever it originally disappeared to.

Came out in the 1997 with an AMAZING cast. Pre-Matrix Lawrence Fishburne, Sam Neill from Jurassic Park, Pre-Harry Potter/Star Trek/Everything Jason Isaacs, and the stellar Kathleen Quinlan.

There’s also a fantastic fan theory that Event Horizon takes place in the Warhammer 40k Universe but far in humanities early history. It’s one that I actually buy into. Makes a shocking amount of sense.

  • It’s me. It’s my fault. I’m the people.

I’m not surprised though. The utility of a smartphone is absolutely unparalleled but also paramount lately. Lately it seems to be that in most of the world an internet connection is required to get a job. You’d need it to apply for work but you’d also need it to access email to see job offers and other responses. You’d also need a phone to often get phone calls about work. For those two functions alone a smartphone is a fantastic investment. When you add in every other service and utility you can get out of it…

  • It was the lowest rated episode of the season

Yeah, on IMDB and only on IMDB.

Rotten Tomatoes has every episode of the Season marked as 100% except for Charades which is notably not the musical episode. MetaCritics aggregate has the season at 81 overall. If you go to individual episodes there are only 10 reviews for Subspace Rhapsody. Most of them are positive. Two are negative, with one admitting that they didn’t even watch the episode and the other one responding with what sounded more like a tweet than a review. “OMG WHAT A HORRIBLE PIECE OF SHIT” does not a valid review make. Then there’s the fact that Subspace Rhapsody has gotten tons of acclaim and had tons of articles written about it in a positive light, much like the one you’re commenting on.

IMdB reviews are notoriously unreliable and using them as the sole rating system to say what you should and shouldn’t make? Not a great idea.
