Memelord of the Veda System
I post using Boost for Lemmy! Also on Mastodon!
Note: Assume I did not make the meme. I just post 'em.
Exactly. I completely buy into it. Intentional or not it just happens to fit fucking perfectly. Even the gothic design of the ship.
Oh yes it can. People will compete over the kills and kill hog as much as they can. Some people will actively block you so you can’t shoot while they’re in a lightsaber hero. It’s just exhausting.
Same. I used to play tournaments so I’m good but I don’t go sweaty. So many people though feel compelled.
I was talking about Battlefront 2 (2016) but Squadrons also applies. I tried playing that game online 3 times and just never bothered continuing it. I get being sweaty, fine, but being toxic about it is something else. Just not interested in it anymore. Been playing stuff like Baldurs Gate 3 perpetually now and it’s great. Or the Hitman trilogy. Actually looking at my playstation almost all the games are singleplayer. Only multiplayer game recently is a co-op game, It Takes Two.
For real. Was playing a Star Wars game again recently. Devs had dropped support and the community had become rampagingly toxic. I found a discord to play with people and actually have a voice chat and they all whined about how no new players showed up but they were repugnant to an extreme. Hyper gatekeep-y for a start but then add on a massive dose of sexism, racism and every other flavor of bigotry.
Decided maybe that the game had died for a reason and uninstalled that shit.
Of course! I saw Sunshine many years ago and it haunted me in the best way possible. It’s really beautifully done with amazing cinematography, acting and a chilling score.
Looks like I’ve got a movie to watch tonight too!
Absolutely! I’m glad that you didn’t take offense to that. I was a little worried because, well, it’s the internet.
Yeah those scenes being lost to time are really disheartening. Although considering the original ‘Hell Scene’ was considerably longer maybe we didn’t miss that much.
Color out of Space I’ve never actually heard of. I’m going to have to look into that one.
What about Sunshine? I think 2009 movie. Staring Cillian Murphy.
Agree to disagree. Everytime I’ve tried to watch it I end up falling asleep. I have… opinions about Natalie Portman and her acting ability.
Completely no surprise here but I love sci-fi horror. Taking cool futuristic concepts and using them to create an atmosphere for horror. I love being fascinated with technology while simultaneously terrified of it. The best example I can think of this, and coincidentally my favorite horror movie?
In the not terribly distant future, Humanity creates an FTL drive which is installed aboard a spaceship called the Event Horizon. On her maiden voyage she vanishes. Some 7 years later, a distress call is picked up in a decaying orbit around Neptune from that very ship. A Search and Rescue vessel called the Lewis and Clarke is dispatched, along with the ships creator, to check out the signal and find what went wrong. What they do find is far more than they bargained for as the ship itself seems to be itching to return wherever it originally disappeared to.
Came out in the 1997 with an AMAZING cast. Pre-Matrix Lawrence Fishburne, Sam Neill from Jurassic Park, Pre-Harry Potter/Star Trek/Everything Jason Isaacs, and the stellar Kathleen Quinlan.
There’s also a fantastic fan theory that Event Horizon takes place in the Warhammer 40k Universe but far in humanities early history. It’s one that I actually buy into. Makes a shocking amount of sense.
No, dude. Spoiler tags exist for a reason and this episode didn’t air that long ago. They are completely justified with their reaction. Moreover, you’re acting like the person specifically came to this community and started browsing. You do not know that. These posts show up on stuff people are subscribed to but also under ‘All’ new posts.
Luckily that is barely a concern. Season 3 is greenlit, Pre-production is completely done and they’re just waiting for the writers strike to finish so they can start filming.
I’ll try to but I don’t understand Mastodon that well. I’ll see if I can!
It’s me. It’s my fault. I’m the people.
I’m not surprised though. The utility of a smartphone is absolutely unparalleled but also paramount lately. Lately it seems to be that in most of the world an internet connection is required to get a job. You’d need it to apply for work but you’d also need it to access email to see job offers and other responses. You’d also need a phone to often get phone calls about work. For those two functions alone a smartphone is a fantastic investment. When you add in every other service and utility you can get out of it…
I’m actually really excited about this episode. There was a really cool toot on Mastodon about a line that Mariner said in the first season about sentient caves. They’re wondering if there’s some connection there and had a really cool theory about it.
Caves.
It is astounding that after all the Jewish people were put through, Israel looked at the Nazi playbook and copied it.
I will never be able to understand it.
Well. This is going to go terribly.
By all means. After fucking over Santa Clarita Diet I couldn’t care less what happens to the damn company.
BG3 did a great job with this. Everyones backstory is pretty badass with all the stuff they’ve done but the argument is that the tadpole in your head is suppressing everything and making you weaker.
It was the lowest rated episode of the season
Yeah, on IMDB and only on IMDB.
Rotten Tomatoes has every episode of the Season marked as 100% except for Charades which is notably not the musical episode. MetaCritics aggregate has the season at 81 overall. If you go to individual episodes there are only 10 reviews for Subspace Rhapsody. Most of them are positive. Two are negative, with one admitting that they didn’t even watch the episode and the other one responding with what sounded more like a tweet than a review. “OMG WHAT A HORRIBLE PIECE OF SHIT” does not a valid review make. Then there’s the fact that Subspace Rhapsody has gotten tons of acclaim and had tons of articles written about it in a positive light, much like the one you’re commenting on.
IMdB reviews are notoriously unreliable and using them as the sole rating system to say what you should and shouldn’t make? Not a great idea.
He’s not Spock…
Why?
Well that would definitely explain a LOT
