No one is going to behead you if you get the ages wrong for some reason.
But as you said, it’s only done in very very formal situations. Usually army/navy/airforce dinners and such. You almost never see it anywhere else.

I feel like this is a global thing but here it goes When serving dinner the women are served first, then the men. They do this from oldest to youngest.
So, first person to get food/wine/water/wtv served is the oldest woman, and the last person to be served is the youngest man…
Edit: I got the tittle wrong I thought it was only formal setting stuff. This is only done in very formal settings. Like an extremely important ceremony on the military branches of my country for instance.
Kind looks interesting but also looks like ergonomics are absolute shit. I thought the switch was bad, this looks worse :(
I did not… I just had a look at their page and you’re absolutely right. Fuck… I think my next laptop might just be a framework…
I agree. I really do want a framework thought, the fact that it’s modular is so cool that it just makes me want to buy it… But the tech isn’t quite there yet for my needs. Hopefully one day :)
Yep I moved from Oneplus to Xiaomi and I can’t day I’m disappointed but I’m feeling they are charging more and more and then phones aren’t getting that much better. I think my next phone will be a pixel. Mostly for the camera. As I’m getting older I notice that I don’t use my phone for too much other than photos of traveling or just messaging my friends and family on WhatsApp. Games on phone are absolute cancer anyways…
Oh… You mean like buying it and using it as a modular desktop? That could be interesting but I don’t know if it’ll have the horse power I need anyways (for gaming). For a home server I bet it’ll be more than enough.
Also, I travel with my laptop somewhat frequently so a desktop wouldn’t be ideal (unfortunately. I prefer desktops over laptops)
Huh, that’s a good take! Didn’t think about that.
It kind reminds me of the Oneplus brand. I loved the one plus (1) so I bought a Oneplus2 only for it to be put aside fairly quickly. I remember I used to suggest Oneplus to everybody, eventually I told everyone to stay away… Eventually the brand just lost it’s focus imo… Instead trying to pump out as much overpriced garbage as possible…
Could you also sell your 2nd hand old main board? That would lessen the blow of a new upgrade (considering you have no need for a home server).
I have thought about a framework laptop but my laptop is a humongous gaming laptop so I don’t think framework has the horsepower I’m looking for. The fact that it’s modular is soooooo tempting though…
I found myself thinking about that. I looked at the clean water on the toilet and thought, that’s the exact same water, from the exact same source, that comes out of the kitchen faucet I use to drink and cook… What a fucking waste… (water is drinkable here ofc)
I sometimes see those eastern flushes with a tap on top that you can use to wash your hands or wtv and so the runoff water goes into the flush reservoir. I thought that was a great idea but, I think recently on lemmy someone asked about something that sounds like a good idea but isn’t, and someone spoke about those toilet/sinks. I don’t remember what the issues were but at the time I thought it made sense not to use it.
Still kinda hurts flushing perfectly good water down the drain :/
That’s insanely cool… And equally scary haha
Thanks for explaining it to me though!
I’ve had that in happen to me where I try to click on something and it opens a new page. I go back to the previous page. Aim for the link I want to click… Press it… refresh Click the wrong one again…
Sometimes this can go on for 3 or 4 times. I feel like I’m going insane when it happens. How can something so simple be so complicated
What is bio hacking?
I think the mods on this community should implement a rule or maybe a suggestion that people expand on the topic. I’m saying this because it does seem like a topic that would interest me, but without context and having no previous knowledge of it, I’ll just move on to the next post.
Scientifically it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what makes EP or BP or others. Although maybe it could be done?
However, it’s easy to tell BP a part from others. If you mainly use “você” it’s BP. If you don’t use it, then you’d have to check other things I guess. Since, for instance, Portuguese from most African/Asian countries use “tu”.
Em relação ao vídeo, facilmente classificaria o vídeo como PT-BR. Apesar de não entender tudo, não só pelas expressões mas pela rapidez como é falado, consigo claramente perceber algumas expressões que dão características de Português do Brasil. Exemplos, a expressão “Aí eu falei”.
That was a lot to take in indeed. I can’t speak for other dialects, but I can understand Azorean accent absolutely fine, same with Madeira. There are some idiomatic expressions here and there that I would maybe not understand but I would still clearly call it European Portuguese.
The same goes for Alentejo. They do use -ndo ending sometimes but I would still clearly call it mostly European Portuguese.
I don’t think this subject needs to be as complicated as you make it. Yes, if we deep dive we can look at things that way but I don’t really think that kind of discussion applies here, nor am I knowledgeable enough to engage with you on that hahah
I do love how passionate you are about it though!
You’re not wrong but the way I see it it’s a hierarchical term.
Portuguese - all Portuguese based languages Brazilian Portuguese - all Portuguese dialects in Brazil European Portuguese - all Portuguese dialects in Portugal Angolan Portuguese - all Portuguese dialects in Angola and so on…
I’m not expecting everyone to know every expression under the sun, but those are CLEARLY Brazilian-Portuguese based so I thought it best to clear it up because people just say Portuguese most times and I feel that creates some confusion.
As someone that works with huge amounts of data with dates in varied formats… PLEASE let this be standardised. :')
Small note, this is Brazilian Portuguese 🇧🇷 (PT-BR), not European Portuguese 🇵🇹 (PT-PT). I never heard most of these. We do have the “farinha do mesmo saco” and “comer o pão que o diabo amassou” though.
The timing on this is funny. I was just talking about this with me SO. I am on vacation around BENELUX and this is the first time I’ve ever seen the carry on bags were paid. You can take a small bag though but I remember that, at least before covid, you could bring a carry on + a small bag under the seat in front of you for free.
I was asked 50€ for the carry on this time… So for a couple that’s 200€ just in carry on fees lol. I packed all my clothing on my backpack and I think I’ll eventually need to pay a laundromat or something to wash my clothes but it won’t be 50€.
Fuck these hidden fees.
