Damn Alan’s bad boy identical twin brother who rides a motorcycle!
Maybe not the worst but the most recent one is my father in law. You know the type: baby boomer who had every advantage growing up but didn’t avail himself but still managed to eke out a comfortable life while working at the business his dad started and he inherited. He doesn’t take in the bucks but it allows him and my mil to own a comfortable home in an area that is only going up in value. Anyway…
As you can imagine super religious, super right wing, trump loving, gay hating (has a gay brother that he’s estranged from), you know… the usual. What gets me is remember trump did an interview a week or two ago where he said that all federal employees are “crooked and dishonest and must be held accountable”? He couldn’t agree more! Guess who my wife (his daughter) and I work for? Yeah…
Well this answers some questions
Can’t stop the signal…
I got to sit in one of the Batman Begins tumblers that was used for filming the movie(s). I used to work where I had easy access to one and early one morning when nobody was around I figured out how to open the door (hatch really over the driver seat) and climbed in. How cool it looked on the outside was unfortunately inversely proportional to how comfortable it was on the inside. Picture a NASCAR car and you’re most of the way there. Neat experience
Oh and also OP’s mom…
♫ Daddy would you like some sausage? ♫
There is no way that The Core is worse than Moonfall. I mean… it’s not good… but at least it’s fun and has Stanley Tucci in it
I occasionally teach some training classes for my organization and one of my favorite things is to say that we’re going to play one of those ice breaker games, wait a beat, then say that we’re actually not going to do that because I hate them. Usually gets people to relax and open up a bit
Ben Shapiro In disarray
Who are you and how did you get in here?
It’s been on my to do list but getting to the county tax records has been a schlep
I think they’re like pilot’s wings but are what the guys who operated the defensive machine guns in a b-17 or b-29 were issued
I have an actual answer. I bought a metal detector and naturally I set to work in the backyard to see if I could find anything cool. Well I don’t know if you think rusty nails and bottle caps are cool but I sure found a lot of those. I did find a lot of good time to practice though.
Fast forward a few months, I had branched out to local parks and such and hadn’t revisited the backyard. We were having some landscaping done which included digging up some tree stumps. For a lark I ran the detector over one of the holes a stump had come out of and I got a hit. Not just a hit but a hit that registered the same as a pre-1964 quarter. Silver.
After a little digging I pulled up a pair of vintage ww2 aerial gunnery wings! (Note: these aren’t the ones I found but they are very similar)
Not sure how I had missed them or what they were doing there but best I can figure is that since the house dated to the late 1950’s some kid grabbed his dads wings from the war and managed to lose them in the backyard and was never able to find them. Sad for dad but cool for me I guess
I realized far too late that most mainstream media is about maximizing views and not telling those stories that worth telling as you said. They start with an interesting idea for a story and if it gets popular it just drags on to get the most amount of eyeballs for as long as possible only for it to end long after it should have with an unsatisfying ending.
And don’t get me started on injecting soap opera esque character drama just to keep the lowest common denominator inerested (looking at you For All Mankind)
The PFAS is coming from inside the house!
I mostly read ebooks but I do buy physical copies of books I want to have on the shelf in the weird hope that maybe my kids or niblings might stumble upon in the future and spark an interest. Luckily I have a really good used bookstore near me that I can buy them for fairly cheaply so I consider it a cheap long term investment that will hopefully pay dividends
I’m with you to a point. There were many points in the movie where I turned to my wife and asked “I thought we were building a bomb?” I’ll say that it wasn’t a terrible movie but I think I would have enjoyed a documentary on Oppenheimer or the development of the bomb rather than a biopic where the director needs to make art.
Be unremarkable but no so unremarkable as to be in and of itself remarkable
