This! I hate that LW defederates from Hex, and Beehaw and any others. LW needs to update the Lemmy version and federate with all.

Open debate is critical for ethics and intelligence. I wish we were much more capable of open minded debate here. I would totally play the role of high-Mach devils-advocate to get people talking about controversial and high tension subjects while being abstracted and attempting not to offend as best I can while playing the role of the bad guy. I’m afraid users here are totally incapable of this level of engagement depth. The concept of a safe place to take such a controversial position of true free speech seems beyond the capability of most here. Like a transgender person should have the opportunity to debate their politization issues from both sides. Or like, I hate what has happened in Gaza, but I also hate a culture that coexists with honor killing without absolutely reforming purging the practice with distain. I should be able to argue as a devils advocate from many angles even when I find them repugnant. I am very good at this kind of debating. I have my own issues with my life situation where I would need people to understand the scope of such a community and participating users. It is a difficult balance to argue hated positions and others understand that those positions and ideas are not your own. When such debates are had, it leads to a much deeper understanding of issues within a community as a whole.

The high school I went to was in a very poor all black community and was designed to uplift the best and brightest of that community while drawing in similar students from the surrounding region to make up around 20% of students. There were some very racist views and tensions at times mostly from black students towards white. The Wednesday seminar/debate classes from start of the day until lunch were the ultimate solution. We debated politics, religion, racism, rape, authoritarianism, communism, anarchism, and a bunch of other stuff. It got super heated at times. When no one wanted to take the negative interlocutor perspective, the teacher would try but I quickly learned I saw the situation more clearly than them and was good at being the bad guy (or the good guy). By arguing the opposing perspective it reveals much about what one believes and how to argue it effectively.

I have an entire framework for such a community saved in rough drafted notes on my phone that I made weeks ago but I don’t think Lemmy is capable of this in practice.

  • It is just a fundamental abstraction that it is an all Israeli thing. Israel has no separation of business government and military. It is one of the most integrated States in that respect. The person with the most influence and control over the alignment problem and the most proprietary undocumented black box aspect of all present AI, so close to the Israeli military is not a good idea. Israelis have proven that they are genocidal nuts with no ethics. Even with the best intentions, will these people maintain them under torture and duress. We are all only animals that cosplay sentient intelligence. The power available by bending alignment is already so large it can reshape all of civilization if it were removed or realigned and that power is only going to increase with time.

  • Narcissistic fodder. They are guidelines. Community always comes first. Mods serve the community not the other way around. Those that fail to follow this rule should never be mods; they do it for the wrong reasons. Every mod action causes harm and the reason for actions should be clearly in the best interests of the whole community in every instant where actions are taken. Community rules are for building community, therefore the community always comes first. If the community pushes in some new direction and engages, the rules should change. The users own the community they post in. Mods serve that community. Narcissistic authoritarianism has no place in this democracy. Anyone with those tendencies should be purged. The only community that a mod can ever own is the one only they have ever posted within.

  • Shouldn’t cause hair loss at all. Think, if you cut your scalp doing stuff, does that cause hair loss; no. Stress can trigger hair loss so anxiety over getting the biopsy could mildly contribute to hair loss. I’ve battled with the road, dirt, rocks, and cars on a bicycle and been involved in insane crashes where I lost a lot of skin including my face and head. I always wear a helmet, but have had damage from glass inside and all around and can say that never caused hair loss.

Pain is relative and different for everyone. I have never had a biopsy, but I can say that nothing that is done in a hospital or medical environment is a really big deal, at least anything I have experienced. However I break bones like ribs in a crash and still ride my bike home for a dozen miles like a badge of honor.

  • Easy easy buddy. We’re all friends here. I don’t value words much at all from anyone. I prefer to let actions speak for themselves. Whatever Trump says is the same to me as all the rich and super rich; it should never be taken at face value. Whether the thing said does or does not happen is largely irrelevant to me.

As far as actions, the christozeolot group said this is absolutely a soft coup. Those are the words I care to watch out for. All anyone can do is lay low and wait at this point. I expect my family support may run out within this 4 year stretch. I couldn’t get much help with disability even with the left in power, so this could be deadly for me on a cold rainy night in a gutter somewhere. Such is life.

How is the food situation going? Any improvement? It looks like you made the move to the UK. I hope your family is doing well. That had to be a big move. The most I have ever done is Atlanta to Los Angeles.
