So if you’re an average user on Windows and your computer won’t boot, how would you wipe the drive?
Of course I’m not an average computer user and I understand how to do it, but I’m just trying to understand how an average user would do this if say, the bootloader or partition table is corrupt?
Honestly the lack of macOS native UI is a dealbreaker for me. I love Firefox to death but I can’t stand using non-native UI (on any OS).
Oh man I could really go on about how terrible US banking is. It’s a shitshow.
It takes me a week to pull funds via ACH from a personal checking account to a business checking account; all because I can’t “push” the funds because there’s an HTTP 500 from their REST API when I try to switch my “funding” account from the personal checking account.
So much of my life revolves around ACH and I don’t even want to know how much of my life I’ve wasted on it. Half the time I use Cash App and the credit network to move funds instantly because these idiots at NACHA can’t figure out what anything beyond COBOL is.
It’s only like two people. I don’t know many people with Android phones.
I admittedly don’t know much about RCS but I know Apple won’t switch until they’re forced to.
If it allows some proprietary stuff to run on top of it I think Apple would be more inclined to switch (they could put iOS-only/iMessage stuff on top of it). Or not: it seems like they already love their iMessage codebase so probably they’ll just support both when they’re forced to implement RCS.

iMessage for other Apple users; for Android people I force them to download Signal because fuck SMS surveillance, Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp and the Telegram train wreck.

Exactly. But an Apple Watch can have a cellular/WiFi connection so it’s not dependent on having other Apple devices around to update its coordinates on iCloud.
You’re not wrong and I’m not disagreeing, but AirTags are basically just Bluetooth trackers that emit a signal picked up by Apple devices. They don’t contain cellular or GPS so I don’t think this is a fair comparison.
My wife and I just use a shared checklist note in Notes. I used to use AnyList but found the UI to be not so great.

Man I actually look back on my drive-thru days and wish life were still so simple. I had a blast working drive-thru at a bunch of different fast food places.
At one I was essentially free to speak however I pleased so I would use the most obnoxious, complicated/weird words I could think of. My go-to greeting was something like “hello and thank you for selecting your local [brand name] regional chain restaurant, my name is [name], which selections may I record to initiate your lunchtime experience?” and when customers would go on ordering like that was completely normal my coworker and I would just lose it.
I guess for this thread to really be productive we’d have to define “average user.” My point hinges on assuming that average users wouldn’t really understand most of what you wrote.
I’ve done data recovery for people before and I definitely do NOT snoop. I’m really big on respecting privacy and for the most part I use a Linux CLI to do it so I might happen to see some filenames here and there but I’m not really looking through stuff.
