Idk if you’re joking or not but I’m pretty sure some person posted a fediverse version of a dating app yesterday somewhere lol.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for that one to take off though.

Yeah, got YouTube music after they shut down Google play music. All my friends dog on me for not having Spotify but not having ads on iOS is so nice. I tried it once without youtube premium subscription and idk how people can sit through advertisment hell for every video.
Also having the creators I watch get a larger share of the YouTube money pie cause I watch them as a YouTube premium sub is a nice feeling too.
That being said though, I’m on a family plan and not this specific plan that got its price raised (although I’m pretty sure the family plan prices have also gone up recently if I remember right).
I had the same question opening this thread so I googled it.
the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.
Bury them in the desert
To add onto this, has anyone found a good way to combine the metadata back into the photos from Google takeout? I’ve found two solutions on Google, one was send it off to some company and pay them to do it and the other has me run some pre compiled exe file.
I’m starting to think I’ll just have to live without the metadata or write my own solution.
I’ve read little to no ubuntu documentation (aside from stuff like installation and very basic troubleshooting). Have you noticed any improvement to it? I think this post is 2 years old so I’d assume there’d be at least a bit of little change.
Aren’t a ton of Lemmy users from Reddit? That being said, I’ve had more positive interactions here than on Reddit, but I haven’t been on Lemmy that long.
Kinda unrelated, but if I restart my computer for whatever reason, will the containers and volumes be wiped out?
Idk, maybe? I’m a docker noob. How hard is it to redeploy a docker container and keep my photos?
Yeah the only thing I’ll need to backup will just be the photos. This machine is just gonna run Ubuntu server so I can try out a bunch of other self hostable services for fun. I’ll take a look into Borg though! Always appreciate any suggestions.
I just googled restic, so does it just create a single encrypted backup file you can upload to backblaze b2 cloud storage? I will definitely look into that.
For now, immich is just another safety net. I’ve got my photos backed up to iCloud photos as well as Google Photos. It’s not a price or privacy thing so much as a just in case Google or Apple decides to shut down my account for whatever reason.
I may skip running two hdd’s in raid 1 though if restic and b2 can restore all my files if the drive fails. Have you done this before? Is it difficult to restore to a backup?
I just downloaded their docker compose file and I see I can specify the absolute location on my machine so I think you’re right. Thanks!
I’m sure those will comes in time too I guess
Do you know of any Lemmy communities that post gaming clips? I see a ton about gaming discussions and gaming news but none with gameplay.
The UFC and MMA subs haven’t moved yet despite there being a few communities on lemmy. I still go to reddit for those.
Oh wow, yeah I missed the headline lol. I wasn’t sure when I read OP’s description if post meant like API post request or like posting a tweet. Turns out maybe neither? But yeah scrolling past a few hundred tweets will go by real fast.
As much as I’d like to see an alternative to YouTube on the fediverse, I can’t see myself using it much unless my favorite content creators move on over there too. And I can’t see them moving.
400 posts a day seems like a lot. Am I missing something here? Is a post a tweet?
This post is 2 years old, but I just wanted to point out how funny it is to call lemmy users lemmings.
