Hot take, but I see it having a market for people who just want to play on a tablet dedicated to gaming without futzing with peripherals. During break I stole my daughter’s tablet to play Gameboy games and it was possibly better than my deck (lighter weight, bigger screen, and shaders that give it a pixel grid w/ a GBC border frame).

This big thing is still not for me, though, as I’d prefer the versatility of going portrait mode because I would likely use it as a 3DS emulator depending on how good the touch is. DS screens fit quite comfortably on tablets in portrait mode. (Assuming I even have the disposable income, which I do not).

I’ve doing bezels play an additional role of protecting the screen. My most fragile monitor is the one with almost no bezel-- a tiny bump and kaboom, fucked monitor. I’m sure that plays a part in the design decision.

You know what sucks is my insurance is going to go up, again, because I have to subsidize these assholes building mansions along the coastal mountain sides. It happened when Malibu burned down, and it’ll happen again, and they will continue to sell property instead of returning it back to nature.

If I have to put up with my concrete jungle South LA place, I don’t want to be lumped in with people with a thousand times more greenery than I get. Yet that’s exactly what insurance companies are going to do. That or outright stop dealing in California as some have done.

Funny, during my break I hijacked my two year old’s tablet to play Pokemon Blue that I snuck on there when we prepped it for our family trip. Initially I just didn’t want her becoming a tablet zombie kid, but I can confirm that playing through Pokemon Blue during the holidays indeed takes you to a happier place.

I second this, wife put money to save for kids when they’re older and it over performed by quite a bit. I forget how much since she also sneaks 1k in here and there but an initial 10k plus the bits she added are now 24k after a couple years.

Goes hand in hand with a similar story I heard about a month ago regarding a shortage of pastors. Apparently it’s so bad, quite a few have to lead sermons at multiple churches and many simply skip some weeks. Also less trained people taking up the role, whatever that means anyway.

Yeah that’s my fear of what will happen if I get a bunch of tests done. This cough is awful but nothing mysterious, I just think my kids are just getting me sick repeatedly but only showing mostly minimal signs (except pneumonia my daughter had that we did successfully got treated since our pediatrics are OK).

But I can’t ever know for certain because it’s just expensive and inconvenient to check, and at the end of the day it’s likely “oh, looks like you had RSV followed by COVID followed by the Flu, each a week before their respective vaccines were available this year and within days of each other. You know what’d be more dangerous would be to spread 3D printing info and other useful tips we as a society may have learned from this whole manhunt info dump. Just saying, of course (I don’t even own a 3d printer, officer!)

Imma be honest, between this and the CEO killing we’ve only really had two pieces of good news all fucking year and the same dipshits ruining everything are ruining this too. This plus being nonstop sick since August with several colds is really making 2024 the shittiest year (so far).

Can someone at least give us a piece of good news before the end of the year? Maybe something that tops both?
