Ironically, this is pretty much how McMahan got Lower Decks. He used to write the TNG Season 8 Twitter, where he’d post fake synopses for his imagined episodes. It was almost always a fairly serious A-plot and a hilariously bananas B-plot.

We can only hope one of this week’s aliens is a giant eyeball with its penis hanging out.
And Kaufman’s twin brother writing an arguably better screenplay.
I’m American, I don’t need to imagine.
Historians: All histories are fiction. Objective truth is illusory. Every narrative is the subjective product of its author and context, with no tangible bearing on reality.
Historians watching any film remotely connected to their field: Well that never fucking happened!
“Publicly funded” doesn’t mean “publicly owned.” Plenty of states give grants and tax incentives to film productions to entice them to work there. That’s tax dollars going into a copyrighted work.
And being of a public figure has absolutely no bearing on copyright. If it did, paparazzi wouldn’t exist, because they wouldn’t be able to effectively sell their photos.
This. I bought a 32oz Nalgene when I was in high school. Lost it on a camping trip in my early twenties, and replaced it with the exact same one. I’ve had it and used it daily for over 15 years now.
After WotC sold their own official proxies in those anniversary packs, I gave up on official prints. Now every deck costs me $22 plus shipping.
There’s also people that recognize that a “summers off” program like this wouldn’t affect significant portions of the workforce. Retail and dining workers wouldn’t get this time off. Medical workers wouldn’t get this time off. Package handlers wouldn’t get this time off.
The divide between “work-from-home” and “essential” and those who got laid off completely during the pandemic opened a lot of eyes to how unfair different types of employment are. I can see plenty of workers saying they don’t want white collar office jockeys taking yet another advantage that service workers will never have access to.
There can’t possibly be that many dead bodies falling out of coffins every day. And there’s no way one in every five of them are nude.
Seconding Player Piano. Both it and Cat’s Cradle were almost explicitly based on his time with GE, and they’ve both gained more cultural relevance over the years.
I always figured this was an intentional part of the design philosophy. The game lets players write and read one- or two-sentence strategy guides anywhere in the world. I took the hint and figured they wanted me to look up strategy guides.
Part of what makes it a significant other is that embarrassment is no longer a concern. Once you know you’re in it for the long haul, it’s about supporting one another. I’ve done things I don’t even feel comfortable saying with the anonymity of the internet and admitted freely to them, because we’re partners. My problems are their problems and their problems are mine.
That’s why the move is to edit all of your comments into jumbled nonsense and then delete them.
