The FDA is currently under the purview of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who in the past has said that he believes poppers cause AIDS.

    …wut?

Butt sex. He thinks since poppers are popular in the gay community they cause AIDS. He’s essentially blaming the gay community for AIDS.

So does he think the millions that have gotten it in Africa are all on poppers?

Denialists are always going to find a way to bullshit their way into continuing to believe the nonsense they already believe.

Believe that. I’ve watched how creationists operate for decades in IRL and online conversations. It’s unreal.

It was a conspiracy theory popular in the 70s and 80s. Basically blaming gay people (who were the primary victims of AIDS in those days) for their own deaths by implying that they brought it on themselves through drug use.

If he’s a vaccine denier, he may also be an HIV denier?

Usually, when it comes to bullshit denialism, it’s in for a penny, in for a pound. So once you believe complete horseshit in one area, you buy all of it: moon landing denial, Holocaust denial, evolution denial, HIV denial, climate change denial…

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has a broad range of unorthodox views on medicine.

I have so many fun poppers memories because it is never the first choice, it is always just “some guy” who no one actually knew but ended up at the party anyways and it is 4 in the morning and everything is out, and there are five hours until the next bus but running out of poppers is more or less impossible so now everyone is kinda happy but also kinda bummed out cause something else would have been better…

I don’t miss those nights at all. Staying up all night on coke or whatever in someone’s flat sounds like hell. But running dry at only 4am and not being able to buy more drugs is amateur behaviour haha

I’ve been sober for the past two years, but I do still have fun memories even tho staying up for days eventually became the norm and nothing I’d say I miss. But these specific memories are from early days (like, my teens) and we didn’t have money to stock up or resupply at those hours really, and we usually were running around outside as we didn’t have our own apartments, so that was the bus reference. Getting stuck out in some random suburb, no money, no way to get home, no more speed or pills, cold af outside… And some mf happens to have poppers lol.

haha, but poppers for “everyone” costs like $15, if “everyone” is using something else it could be thousands.

edit: it occurs to me I don’t know how much a vial of Rush cost in 2024. Obviously the price just quadrupled after this announcement.
